DEATHSTARS: Equipment Theft Forces Delay In Album Recording Sessions
June 1, 2004Sweden's DEATHSTARS had a good portion of their gear stolen shortly after arriving home following their appearance last weekend at the Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig, Germany. "During the night someone had managed to break into the band's tour bus and stole big parts of their backline, instruments worth approx. $15,000," the group write on their web site. "As if that wasn't enough the band was also scheduled to begin the recording of their 2nd album today (June 1) and are now forced to delay the recording session while waiting for their instruments to be found. Any information on the whereabouts of their backline would be highly appreciated, please get in touch using [email protected]."
As previously reported, DEATHSTARS' debut album, "Synthetic Generation" — originally issued in Sweden in March 2002 via the Universal affiliate LED Recordings — was released through Nuclear Blast last November.
The Swedish band, in existence since January 2000, were previously known as SWORDMASTER and feature in their ranks former DISSECTION drummer Ole Öhman and guitarist Emil Nödtveidt (brother of DISSECTION leader Jon). The group's musical style is being described as "powerful industrial metal," and is said to be not a million miles removed from that of PAIN, RAMMSTEIN and MARILYN MANSON.
